Day 22. Place of Care/Birth The place that looked after your you whilst you were pregnant. Share a photo of those who took care of you and your baby. This could be a midwife/doula/friend/partner.
I don't have a good picture of the hospital ICN or the nurses/doctors that helped care for the boys...there are pictures of the boys in their isolettes, but very little pictures of the hospital itself. What I can say is I'm grateful for the hospital. We are lucky to have a high level intensive care nursery a little less than an hour away. I've talked a lot about the hospital and I've shared my goals about what I want to do to help the hospital, so I don't know that there's more to say about that...
What I can say is the nurses and staff in the ICN were lifesavers for me. They didn't just take care of my boys, they took care of me and Cam, too. We were so lucky to have such caring staff taking care of our boys. Though I still get upset at the idea that they couldn't do enough to keep my sons with me, I know that they did what they could and it's not their fault that the boys were so sick. They did everything they knew how to do with what information they had. I got 3 wonderful days with Andy and 22 beautiful days with Sammy that I would not have gotten otherwise. I formed some, I'm sure, lifelong relationships with nurses that I feel care about us and our future family just as much as they cared about our two beautiful sons. I even MISS seeing the nurses because after spending 8+ hours a day at the hospital for three weeks, we got really close with them! I feel blessed and lucky to have these new wonderful people in my life.
