We were very honored to be this year's Ambassador family for the event. This is our third year doing the walk and being highly involved with the March of Dimes, so I can't even explain what an honor it is!
It was a brisk 33 degrees this morning in northern NH! We bundled up anyways and headed out!! Ben did amazing. He's a trooper and as long as he's getting attention from Mommy, Daddy, or any one of his grandparents, he's content. :)
I always feel like these events are a whirlwind. For me, it's an opportunity to reconnect with friends new and old. Our nurses, doctors, anyone who happens to be in attendance. This year was no exception. And I was a nervous ball of energy!! I've given a speech about our babies before but this is different. The 2013 March for Babies started my journey to serving Samuel's and Andrew's memories through this walk and this organization. Telling their story and Ben's story this time was different. I like to think that I can do alright and not tear up after nearly 3 years, but I still do. There's no getting away from it. I kept it short and sweet and am happy with the words I spoke.
All-in-all we had a great walk, a great day with family and friends. And I am proud to say that our team has stayed at least 20 strong for 3 years. We gain some and lose some each year, but there are those that stay with us year after year and have made it their mission to honor and remember our babies, too. Our friends and family are amazing in that they donate year after year, too. In 3 years, we have raised almost $16,000 for the March of Dimes. Thank you is never enough for how grateful we are for that level of support!
To my husband...who puts up with my stress around this event...who walks by my side...who is the only person who knows all of the emotions: good, bad, and ugly. He is my rock, the love of my life, and though this isn't the plan we had for our family, I am SO happy that we are going strong and living this life. That we are able to move forward, to charge through the grief and to honor Samuel and Andrew while raising Ben to understand the importance of honoring his brothers, too...I can't imagine this life with anyone else. I can never thank him enough for loving me through it all. A family three strong with our two guardian angels on our shoulders.
