We are so very lucky to be in the LEO (law enforcement officer) family and you can never get enough of the LEO/fire rivalry. One of the best examples is our local Children's Hospital fundraiser, the CHaD Battle of the Badges, a hockey game of fire vs. police.
The premise is that each player is assigned a little "buddy" who was a CHaD patient at one point or another. We were super lucky this year to be paired with a police officer who even has a child only a few weeks younger than Ben!!
Unfortunately, the ability to meet our buddy was difficult. He lives on the complete other end of the state (i.e. 3 hours away)! And the only meet and greets that are held are 2 hours away, so it was a pretty big deal to try to meet him at last night's game. By chance, we ran into his family while collecting money for the hospital in the "bucket brigade" and were able to meet him after the game and get pictures with our buddy and meet his son, too!!
Team Police lost to Team Fire, 7-4, but guess what? Our amazing buddy scored TWO of those 4 goals!! And we cheered pretty loudly for him. :) :)
We are very excited for next year when Ben might be a little more excited about the hockey game. :) And maybe Daddy can come, too!! This year, we brought our aunties with us (i.e. my best friends) and us girls had so much fun spoiling Ben and hanging out together. I am SO lucky to have amazing friends who put up with my up and down and all around activity last night. It was a lot, but they helped me through the entire night and didn't go running when Ben screamed in the car for nearly a half hour after!!
It was definitely an overstimulation experience, but Ben is handling stimulation better and better lately, and I'm starting to see my little boy's personality come through. He's definitely got Mommy's social butterfly. :) I am one LUCKY momma!
